about

I was messing around with some chords and came up with some inversions I quite liked so jotted them down on a piece of paper on 28th July 2023. When I came to writing the melody I kept falling upon the classic headline from A Night in Tunisia, by Dizzy Gillespie. Inadvertently I was using the same two chords in a higher key. So yes, I had to reference A Night in Tunisia in the solo, played by a rasping organ rather than brass and saxophones. Sadly I have become that miserable tosser who refers to jazz tunes in their own work. My life is over, where is my noose. On 28th December 2023, a whole 5 months later I finished the track. Partly because of time constraints but principally because my home studio is nearing 25 years old and cries, " leave me to rest," every time I get a creative urge. Hence the name. Enough of this unnecessary narrative. Electronic jazz, broken beat drum n bass moog/ organ vibes. Enjoy.

Yul Emir London, UK

In 2023 I will have been playing keys for 43 years, which makes me a musical Grandmaster, surely. Emiralimusic.co.uk

This is what happens when you start off with a idea. It morphs into something else. You learn how to use your sequencer a little better. Leave your tracks for a year or so. Embark on a kitchen conversion and come out with a musical sound you had no idea or intention of making.
